MU CLASSIC ON DECK
Install the native Steam Deck edition and launch straight from Gaming Mode. It runs directly on SteamOS.
Install Mu Classic Native
First, save and exit your current game. Do this before switching editions or devices.
- On the Deck, choose Steam → Power → Switch to Desktop.
- Open Konsole, paste this command, and press Enter:

The installer verifies the download, adds Mu Classic Native to Steam, and closes and reopens Steam once. It keeps your existing browser shortcut and profile, backs up Steam shortcuts, and preserves native saves and settings when updating.
Then launch from Gaming Mode
- Return to Gaming Mode → Library → Non-Steam → Mu Classic Native.
- Open Controller layout → Templates, select Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad, and choose Apply once.
- Choose Play and sign into your existing Mu Classic account. Press Steam + X to open the keyboard.
Keep your characters
Use the same Mu Classic account on your Mac and Deck to load your saved characters and worlds. Save and exit the game on the other device before signing in here.
Already playing in a browser? Keep that launcher and profile until you have signed in and saved your progress there. The native installer keeps them in place.
Updating the native edition
Save and exit, then run the same native install command again in Desktop Mode. It installs the latest native release while keeping your account data, settings, and earlier native versions.
Prefer to play in a browser?
The browser edition is also available. You can open Mu Classic now or add its browser launcher to Steam.
Install the browser launcher
In Desktop Mode, open Konsole and run:

This adds the separate Mu Classic browser shortcut. New installations prefer Firefox; existing installations keep their selected browser and profile. Choose Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad for its controller layout if needed.
Browser updates
New launches check for the latest browser build. During play, a verified update shows a countdown before saving and restarting. If saving cannot finish, the game stays open so you can retry.
Cover art for the browser shortcut
To refresh the Mu Classic browser shortcut cover art, run this once in Desktop Mode. Previous custom covers are backed up.
